PARENT AND SPONSOR MEETINGS

Parents of Confirmandi (Public, Private and Catholic Schools) as well as Confirmation Sponsors are to attend three mandatory meetings as a complementary resource to the Confirmation Classes.

 

Meeting #1 – Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 7:45PM – 9:00 PM

SPEAKER: Dr. Jessica Chan Tai, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Jessica Chan Tai is an expert on Clinical Developmental Psychology. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and families struggling with mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, parent-child relationship and attachment difficulties, school refusal, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Currently, Dr. Chan Tai works as a Psychologist at the Toronto Catholic District School Board, and as a private practitioner through McLean Psychology Centre.

Dr. Chain Tai has research expertise in the areas of immigration and acculturation and studies maternal-child health from a cross-cultural perspective. She is also an active parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Meeting #2 - Tuesday, March 26, 2019, 7:45 PM – 9:00 PM

SPEAKER: Speaker from FertilityCare Toronto (TBD)

FertilityCare Toronto is a fertility, family planning, and women’s health centre. Over the past 30 years, FertilityCare Toronto speakers have addressed thousands of people in venues across the nation. They will lead a presentation on how to lead a practical and positive dialogue with your teenager about sex and relationships in a way that is age appropriate, aware of the particular challenges they are facing, and sensitive to the guidelines provided by the Catholic Church.

Meeting #3 - Tuesday, April 30, 2018, 7:45 PM – 9:00 PM

SPEAKER: Vlad Mamaradlo, Lay Youth Pastor

            Vlad Mamaradlo is the Lay Youth Pastor at St. Joseph the Worker Parish. He completed his Masters in Divinity and Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology at the University of Toronto and brings with him over 18 years of experience in Youth Ministry. He oversees the parish’s social media activities and has done several talks on the role social media has played on a young person’s mental and spiritual well-being.

NOTE: The attendance of both parents is not necessary although we strongly encourage it as both parents will benefit from the contents presented. Attendance to the Parent Meeting is mandatory for both parents and sponsors.
